The team of the documentary film project “Oman in Focus” has completed a visit to the Governorate of Musandam, after exploring the depths of its biodiversity, focusing on marine life with unique biodiversity. The Northern Governorate will be one of the stations of the film, which aims to highlight the beauty of the Sultanate and its biodiversity in its environment, as well as the magical wildlife and the global treasures it contains, in cooperation with two international channels and a number of Omani sponsors of the project.
The “Oman in Focus” project has great support and from both the government and private sectors, all of which aim to promote tourism in the Sultanate and document the diversity of its neighborhoods, which can be benefited from in several different aspects, including scientific, economic, tourism and others.
The photographers of “Oman in Focus”, who are from international media outlets, folded the page of Musandam Governorate, to dive into its turquoise waters, creating scenes of various biological treasures that abound in the governorate, and from its waters to its skies, where the diversity of water birds, especially the Socotra cormorant known as “Al Lowa”. The team has been studying the behavior of this bird, which is found abundantly on the waters of the Musandam Governorate and on its shores, which its flocks increase in specific seasons, as the beaches are filled with large flocks, that pose a threat to those engaged in the fishing profession.
The general supervisor of the “Oman in Focus” project, Maysa Al Houti, said: “We finished the Musandam Governorate station and photographed the natural diversity in it, including the coral reefs in which Musandam waters abound, dolphins and migratory birds, and now the work team in the Dhofar Governorate is photographing the endemic birds of the governorate and migratory birds. In addition, the team is working on documenting frankincense trees, as well as watching the Arab leopard, wolves and snakes, and we hope that the team will succeed in this task.”
After the “Oman in Focus” team completed its mission in the Musandam Governorate, the team will now stay in the Governorate of Dhofar, so that its current mission will be in the far south of the Sultanate, where there are 12 tourist stations from its north to its south, that the project is working to highlight.
As stated in a previous article published by “Oman”, the project will cover 12 prominent tourist destinations in the Sultanate under the title “Undiscovered”. It’s worth noting that the “Oman in Focus” project is an extension of the “Undiscovered” project, which is also an extension of previous projects from the years 2014 and 2015. The first project focused on humans and the diversity of terrain, while the second project focused on deep-sea life. The current project will provide viewers with a more comprehensive image of the unique nature of the Sultanate and its wild animals.
