Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the College of Arts and Social Sciences, announced the details of the cultural season for the year 2021-2022, which will start on Monday, November 1, which will be hosting a book fair and signing new publications at the university.
Dr. Nabhan bin Harith Al-Harassi, Dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University, said: “We are pleased to return the cultural season of Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the College of Arts and Social Sciences, which has long created an area of cultural communication, which enhanced the intellectual side of the students, and this season will be a continuation of the achieved successes and the positive interaction that we aim for. The current season is working to attract local and Arab cultural diversity, in the fields of culture and arts at all levels, and we have made sure to connect with a group of people who have always had the most prominent voice in their cultural and intellectual fields.”
Al Harrasi pointed out that the participation of university students in the activities of the cultural seasons has a positive impact on the continuity and diversity of cultural fields, and this is what the university administration has been keen on in the current season; to be a significant and perceptible contributor to achieve the ambitions of the cultural season.
On November 8th, Dr. Saad Muhammad Al-Tamimi will deliver a lecture entitled “Innovative Cities and the Sustainable Development from Baghdad to Muscat.” On November 15th, a photographic and artistic event will be held under the title “Photograph Documenting the Pakistani Swat Valley”, and it will include an exhibition and a lecture by the photographer Saif Al-Rawahi. A panel discussion will be held under the title (Moral Philosophy and the Contemporary World) on the occasion of the International Day of Philosophy on November 22nd, while on December 6th, 2021, a lecture entitled (The Crisis of Arab Historical Writing) will be presented by Dr. Abdul Hadi Al-Ajmi. In addition, a panel discussion will be held on (Managing Volunteer Work in Time of Crisis), and the panel will be moderated by Dr. Ali Al-Riyami, while there will be a lecture entitled (Climate Changes and Their Impact on the Sultanate of Oman), presented by Dr. Yassin Al-Sharabi from the Department of Geography at the College of Arts and Social Sciences on 30th of January.
On February 6, 2022, a lecture entitled (Rebuilding Tourism for the Future: Recovery Policy after the Corona Virus Crisis) will be presented by Dr. Majda Al-Saltiyah, from the Department of Tourism at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and on February 20, 2022, the General Conference of the College of Arts and Social Sciences will be held. On the 27th of February, (the College Dialogue) will be held, which will include the experience of students of the College of Arts and Social Sciences on using social media platforms optimally. Also, a panel discussion in cooperation with the “Consolidated Index” will be presented on March 6th, 2022. On March 13, a lecture will be held on (Sociology) presented by Dr. Baqir Suleiman Al-Najjar, while on March 20, 2022, in cooperation with the National Museum, a symposium will be held on (Cultural Roles of the Learning Center at the National Museum). Finally, on March 27, 2022, the celebration of World Theater Day will be held, under the supervision of Dr. Saeed bin Mohammed Al Siyabi.
