The library contains six thousand books that are distributed on different sections of knowledge.

In particular, it is the meeting point for those who seek to acquire scientific and cultural supplies in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Its epistemological message comes from the public libraries that have high beacons in various sciences, which are used by people who want to be guided and achieve their personal aims in science, knowledge, and culture.
Scattered throughout the Sultanate of Oman are a core cultural institution in which the cultural heritage of humanity, as well as its material and moral aspects, is collected and preserved, as well as its accumulated experiences across time and space. In addition, Sultan Qaboos Mosque’s library in Nizwa aims to be made accessible human knowledge to everyone irrespective of gender, age, profession, or cultural background.
The Sultan Qaboos Mosque Library in Nizwa is one of the libraries that belong to the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science. Moreover, it is one of the most important cultural features of the modern Omani Renaissance. Therefore, it coincided with the opening of the University on the Thi Alheja 1436 AD, September 18, 2015.
The establishment of the library includes the University’s facilities according to the scientific and cultural value in Wilayat Nizwa. It is characterized by the aesthetic design and optimal use of decorations, which combines between the art of ancient Islamic and Omani architecture on one hand, and modern architectural art on the other hand.
The library consists of two floors, the ground floor measures 137 square meters. It contains a readers’ office, a collection of sources, individual and group reading, and the child’s reader corner.
Furthermore, the first floor has 140 square meters and includes many information source sections, a reading area, a computer section, a discussion room, training programs, and special staff offices.
The aim of the Library is culture’s disseminate with members of society at all different levels of science and cultural interests, by promoting and enriching cultural life in society and providing reliable information. Hence, collecting, documenting, and preserving Omani heritage.
The library seeks to contribute to the cultural and intellectual upgrading of individuals through the promotion of self-learning and access to information that is relevant to their studies and research. It also seeks to connect with society and meet its needs through cultural programs, training courses, and workshops. Additionally, it contributes to establishing a promising future for young people, while sharing knowledge between the libraries that belong to the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science through a unified search for the sources in all these libraries. Therefore, that can help the researcher get direct access to the resources that he needs.
The library contains around six thousand books that are distributed among different sections of human knowledge. It is arranged according to the Dewey Al’shri system (general knowledge departments, philosophy and psychology, social sciences, linguistics, natural sciences, and arts Literature and Rhetoric, History and Geography). In addition, it includes a group of master’s theses and doctoral theses that researchers and visitors have given to the library as a gift.
There are (85) theses in both Arabic and English.
It contains many periodicals, scientific and cultural magazines, and folders that document from the old magazines as Al-Fikr and others. Likewise, the private folders for collecting judgments from the Court of Administrative Justice.
The library has a computer section which contains many computers with Internet access, as well as several tables for personal computers. Also, the library has wireless Internet access offered in all of its halls.
The Sultan Qaboos Mosque Library in Nizwa has a special section for children that includes many meaningful stories, scientific encyclopedias, and educational games to enrich the culture of children and adults and develop their knowledge. Moreover, it inculcates in them a love of reading, motivated by research and exploration, and helps parents spend good times with their children in the library.
Therefore, the Library has an event and meeting room, which is used for the implementation of programs and workshops, as well as for group discussions and meetings. It is equipped with an interactive display with a projector. The Hall has approximately 25 people, and individual and group reading and seating area that fits around 50 people on the floors of the library.
Every day, the library provides the local newspapers for the visitors. It is an opportunity of copying and printing without prejudice to intellectual property rights.
The library is open from Sunday to Thursday from (8 am to 2 pm) and (4 pm to 9 pm). It is widely attended by various groups in society. According to 2019, before the Corona pandemic, there were 4444 Omani visitors and 309 visitors of various other nationalities. In the same year, it received 27 group visits from government and private schools, kindergartens, and students of the Institute of Health Sciences.
